Born in Bogotá, Colombia, but raised by French adoptive parents, Haider spent his
childhood in Ethiopia, Chad, Algeria, and France before the family moved to the
Netherlands. Haider Ackermann has brought the richness of his cosmopolitan childhood into
his way of designing, and merged it to his love for the work of Yves Saint Laurent, his main
source of inspiration. Karl Lagerfeld proclaimed him his ideal successor at Chanel, and many
call him a 'new Yves Saint-Laurent'. His style consists in simple cuts, often asymmetric and
mixing different materials, for streetwear featuring feminine silhouettes sophisticated and
refined.
