Giuseppe Borsalino, "u siur Pipen", was born in Alexandria in 1834. Starting out as a shop assistant and apprentice in his city, he later became a master hatmaker for Berteil in Paris. When he returned to Alexandria he opened his first laboratory with his brother Lazzaro. This was the start of the story of the most prestigious hat brand in the world, a legend of style and class appreciated over generations and chosen by famous names like Johnny Depp, Leonardo Di Caprio, Denzel Washington, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell and John Malkovich.
