Graphic effects and optical illusions with contrasting colours cover the garments of the spring/summer 2020 collections. Balmain’s body-contouring, stretch dresses show black and white abstract forms with ethnic flavour that recall tribal geometric patterns. The small ruches and the ruffles in the knitted dresses from Alexander McQueen give more movement to the contrasting effect of a white mesh on a black background. Total elegance and the charm of the '60s in the models by Valentino, who chooses giraffe prints, but in black and white, for the silks used in his blouse and trousers outfits. Alexandre Vauthier plays with polka dots, all the same size and aligned that seem to move on the soft drapes of his silk balloon-sleeve blouses. The jacquard effect in Alaïa's models is hypnotic as the graphic motif follows the cut of the dresses for an elegant hourglass effect.
