"Waters that flow lightly": the meaning of the name given by Native Americans to the Saucony river, in Pennsylvania. The shoe company that would make the boots worn by the first American astronaut, Edward Higgins White, on his first journey into space in 1963, was founded on the banks of the Saucony river in 1898. Today, Saucony specialises in the production of high-level running shoes and technical clothing, with which it has taken over athletes and runners all over the world.
