Sonia Rykiel founded the fashion house of the same name in Paris in 1968. She became famous for her jumpers, and some people have compared her to Coco Chanel and called
her 'Coco Rykiel'. In 1977, she became the first designer to launch a line of clothes for mail
order. She was also the first to put seams on the outside of a garment. Thirty designers have
paid homage to her in the brand’s fortieth anniversary with their 'Femme Rykiel' visions,
including Giorgio Armani, Jean Paul Gaultier and Ralph Lauren.
