Named after the soft shape of traditional mongolian pao tents, pao draws on fukasawa's aesthetic of beautiful simplicity. In this way, he created an everyday object that draws on design values found in nature. By keeping the aesthetics plain and simple, he harmonises the design with its surroundings. Both the base and the lampshade of the table lamp are made of a durable polycarbonate with a smooth, high-gloss surface. The light's light source is concealed inside the lampshade behind an opal polycarbonate diffuser, creating an efficient, diffuse downward light with a warm, cosy glow.
